Combining two ready-made materials accessible from retail chains and department stores, Domestic Alloys rendered the familiar domestic materials into non-functional objects of contradiction. Continuing the materiality and handcrafting process adopted in Gloom, a collection of nine kitchen utensils were created during my residency with House Conspiracy. Connecting to the classic Queenslander house environment of my residency, the works reference Mona Hatoum's approach of responding to the notion of displacement and disorientation with uncanny scaled up household objects.
